"Automated Genetic Screening using Computer Vision and Microfluidics"
Forward genetic screens use changes in an observable phenotype to identify novel genes and networks, and especially in multicellular model organisms, this is a time and labor intensive process. To eliminate this bottleneck, I have developed an automated system that employs a microfluidic device and computer vision algorithms to allow self-directed genetic screening of the organism C. elegans.

"Hyrdodynamic Mixing MOdulates Embryonic Stem Cell Differentiation Independent of Embryoid Body Size"
Embryonic stem cells are a promising source for the production of large cell yields for therapies aimed to replace or regenerate damaged or diseased tissues. This work demonstrates the ability to systematically control embryoid body size and formation, in order to analyze of the impact of hydrodynamic environments imparted during mixing in scalable suspension cultures.
