"Application of SYPRO® Orange, a Fluorescent Hydrophobic Dye, for a High-throughput Ligand Binding Assay for Proteins of Unknown Structure and/or Function"
High-throughput screening of small molecules, in which libraries of small molecules are tested for their ability to modify the target protein, is one of the main methodologies used in drug discovery, but is limited to specific knowledge of the protein. We have overcome this limitation and developed a general ligand binding assay for soluble proteins of unknown structure and/or function.

"Priming Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) in Heparin-Containing Hydrogels via Coculture"
Priming stem cells toward a more differentiated state may be achieved by coculture with a differentiated cell type. My work examines the utility of covalently immobilized heparin in PEG-based hydrogels to promote an osteogenic phenotype in encapsulated MSCs while in coculture with osteoblasts.
