Britta Kallin, associate professor of German and director of graduate studies in the School of Modern Languages, participated in a virtual panel titled The Art of the Book Review on Feb. 10.
Germany Quarterly, a journal published on behalf of the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG), hosted the panel. During the event, panelists discussed the best practices for book review editors.
Kallin is a book review editor for the German Studies Review, the scholarly journal of the German Studies Association (GSA). GSA is the world's largest academic association devoted to the interdisciplinary study of German-speaking countries. For the panel, she joined Sabine Gross, professor of German at the University of Wisconsin — Madison and book review editor of the Monatshefte; Michael Mackenzie, professor of art and art history at DePauw University and book review editor of the German Studies Review; and Christina Kraenzle, associate professor of German at York University and book review editor of the Seminar.
