Dr. Ito is a professor of Japanese in the Department of Asian Studies at St. Olaf and received her Ph.D. in Linguistics from Michigan State University. She will discuss the different ways gender is often presented in Japanese anime, such as through speech patterns and the physical appearance of characters.
