Scheller Lunchtime Live is a livestream series hosted by the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business featuring faculty, student, and alumni speakers discussing relevant topics for the tech-driven, digital age.
In this talk, Dr. Diane Alleva Cáceres will discuss the science, technology, and innovation strategies that countries are pursuing and why they are important to support long-term economic growth. She will also explore the different mechanisms – from exporting to foreign direct investment (FDI) – through which global technological innovation occurs.
Attendees will gain a greater understanding of the role played by the private sector, government, and universities in these processes and what this means for their own organization’s global growth.

About Diane Alleva Cáceres
Dr. Alleva Cáceres is a lecturer at the Scheller College of Business and the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in International Business, the Global Politics of Technology, Globalization, and a senior capstone course.
She is also the founder and CEO of Market Access International, Inc. (MAI), an international trade, investment, and enterprise growth consulting practice. She and her team engage in competitiveness benchmarking and strategic planning, global value chain analysis, export and foreign direct investment development, and B2B market missions. Her work has taken her around the world from European Union member countries, Quebec and Malta to China and Argentina, among many others in a variety of industries, from advanced manufacturing and agribusiness to life sciences and fintech.
Previously, she held leadership positions in several organizations including the World Trade Center Atlanta, Georgia Tech’s European Union Center of Excellence, the Australian Trade Commission, the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Center for Trade and Investment Services covering North Africa and the Middle East, the World Technology Foundation, and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars’ Asia Program.
Dr. Alleva Cáceres is a member of several leadership organizations including the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and its Committee on the National Program, Bretton Woods Committee, U.S. Global Leadership Council, and the International Women’s Forum.
Dr. Alleva Cáceres earned a Ph.D. in International Affairs, Science, and Technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She obtained a B.A. in Economics and M.A. in Government from the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
