It’s the holiday season, which means that gifts are being purchased and family gatherings are being planned. It also means that movies, songs, and traditions that are usually dormant are reemerging as people try and get into the festive spirit.

Faculty and staff from the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs shared some of their favorite holiday media and traditions, or what makes the holidays special to them.

What are your favorite holiday movies?

A Christmas Story.” -Jenna Jordan, associate professor and director of graduate studies

Die Hard.” -Maggie Kosal, associate professor

Christmas with the Kranks and Love Actually. My wife and I also watch the entire Harry Potter series during this time of year.” -Chris McDermott, associate director for the Center for International Strategy, Technology, and Policy

What are your favorite holiday songs?

“’What is Christmas?’ and ‘Star to Follow’ by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.” -Chris McDermott

What is your favorite holiday tradition?

“Beef wellington night with the family!” -Chris McDermott
