Films
will be shown the Student Center Theater at 7 PM on Fridays and
Saturdays for three consecutive weekends. Admission is free and open to

Friday, April 8: "Maria
llena eres de gracias" (Maria Full of Grace)
Country of
Origin: Colombia
Plot Summary: In
a small village in Colombia, the pregnant seventeen-year-old Maria supports
her family with her salary working in a floriculture. She is fired and with a
total lack of perspective on finding a new job, decides to accept the offer
to work as a drug mule, flying to the U.S. with sixty-two pellets of cocaine in her
stomach. Once in New York, things do not happen as planned.

Plot Summary:
This film tells the life story of Spaniard Ramón Sampedro, who fought a 30-year
campaign to win the right to end his life with dignity. Film explores Ramón's
relationships with two women: Julia, a lawyer who supports his cause, and Rosa,
a local woman who wants to convince him that life is worth living. Through the
gift of his love, these two women are inspired to accomplish things they never
previously thought possible. Despite his wish to die, Ramón taught everyone he
encountered the meaning, value and preciousness of life. Though he could not
move himself, he had an uncanny ability to move others.

a forgotten Mexico Tita and Pedro fall in love but are forbidden to marry. Mama

heart breaks when her mother instead offers to Pedro her other daughter, and he
accepts. Now they live in the same house, and Mama Elena cannot forbid their
love as she did their marriage.

This documentary depicts what happened in Rio de Janeiro on June 12th 2000,
when bus 174 was taken by an armed young man, threatening to shoot all the
passengers. Transmitted live on all Brazilian TV networks, this shocking and
tragic-ending event became one of violence's most shocking portraits, and one
of the scariest examples of police incompetence and abuse in recent years.

girlfriends like the attractive Leticia, whom Valentin himself befriends.
