Nadiya Kostyuk, assistant professor in the School of Public Policy, co-authored a blog post in Lawfare titled “The Pros and Cons of Mandating Reporting From Ransomware Victims.” The post, written with Columbia University Ph.D. candidate Jenny Jun, comes as three bills have been introduced in Congress in the past four months attempting to mandate reports of cyber threats.
In the blog post, Jun and Kostyuk outline the similarities and differences between the three bills before deep diving into the pros and cons of report mandates as a whole. They close by providing potential solutions for how to remedy the limitations of the current proposed legislation.
