Narin Hassan, associate professor and director of graduate studies for the Global Media and Cultures program in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, co-authored the introduction in the latest issue of Nineteenth-Century Context: An Interdisciplinary Journal.
In the introduction “Zooming in: epidemic, pandemic, endemic,” Hassan and her co-authors Eileen Cleere, chair of English at Southwestern University, and George Robb, professor of history at William Paterson University, emphasize the “disruption, hesitation, and innovation necessitated by the challenges of an unprecedented year.”
As members of the journal’s editorial team, Hassan, Cleere, and Robb also worked to divide the issue into three sections representing the impact 2020 had on our professional and personal lives while addressing the interweaving of the nineteenth century to our current time: Testimony, Teaching, and Time.
