There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

Full Summary: Rachel Oliver of Cambridge University will present the Atlanta (Joint) Chapter for IEEE Electron Devices/Photonics (ED/PHO) Societies Distinguished Lecture on November 12. The title of her talk is "Nitrides for Quantum Light Sources."

Lecture Title: Nitrides for Quantum Light Sources

Speaker: Rachel OliverDepartment of Materials Science and Metallurgy, University of Cambridge

Time: 9:00 am-10:00 am

Date: November 12, 2021

Abstract: Nitride devices can potentially serve as quantum light sources that produce single or entangled pairs of photons without liquid helium temperatures. Professor Oliver will discuss how growing nitride crystals at non-traditional orientations can help overcome significant barriers to success, such as high defect densities, internal electrics fields, and incompatible wavelength requirements.
