UN DAY 2021: Creating a Blueprint for a Better Future: Drawdown Georgia and Local Climate Action
Thursday, October 28, 2021
4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Virtual Panel Discussion
The Atlanta Global Studies Center (AGSC) is proud to partner again this year with the United Nations Association of USA, Atlanta Chapter (UNA-Atlanta), Georgia Tech's Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business, and the Mayor's Office for International Affairs on the annual United Nations 76th anniversary (#UN76) celebration!
This year’s theme is “Creating a Blueprint for a Better Future” and the #UN76 is dedicated to reminding us how interconnected the world is and that a threat anywhere- from the COVID-19 pandemic to intensifying impacts of climate change - is a threat everywhere. We strongly believe that creating a blueprint for a better future can only be achieved through working together. In this context the 2030 Agenda needs involvement more than ever. That's why this year’s UN Day will not celebrate exemplary local efforts, showcasing the state of art expertise and experience in addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
It is in this spirit, this year’s UN Day celebration is dedicated to the Drawdown Georgia initiative, a state-specific climate solutions roadmap that has been primarily funded by Ray C. Anderson Foundation. On Oct 28th, we will be highlighting local and essential contributions of Georgians through multilevel actions, providing opportunity for observer agencies and interested parties to showcase progress and experience of their mitigation efforts.
