On September 232021, a beautiful fall day, the ECE Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Council hosted an on-campus inclusive welcome event for the ECE community.

There was a beautiful spread with blue, white, and gold decorations spread out under a tent on the Tech Green. Souvenir wristbands were available to everyone, and a diverse selection of cuisines was served that reflect our ECE family demographics, including Asian, Mediterranean, vegetarian, Caribbean, Latin, and of course wings (we are after all in Atlanta).

The Council welcomed everyone from ECE students, faculty, advisory board members, staff, and friends to enjoy this event, as well as friends from the past. An enthusiastic Buzz joined the fun, and the Ramblin’ Wreck was there for all to admire.  A deejay played music from every taste: pop, Latin, country…there was something for each to enjoy.

Everyone was encouraged to get to know at least two other members of the ECE family. This event provided the opportunity to engage each other (student to staff, student to other faculty they would not normally know, faculty to staff, people who work in different buildings) in a relaxed atmosphere.

A great time was had by all who attended, and the D&I Council provided a visibly supportive inclusive engagement opportunity in ECE.  It was nice to actually SEE everyone. . .it’s been a while!

Photos from the event are available on the ECE Facebook page
