A new fire supression system will be installed in The Weber Building during a construction timeframe of October through early December. The contractor will tap into an existing water main in Ferst Drive and run a new water line to Weber SST1. Labs 216 & 217 in Weber SST1 will be renovated concurrently.

Construction Start Date: Friday, October 1, 2021

Scheduled Construction Completion Date: Friday, December 10, 2021

Impact:

  • See attached map for pedestrian routing plan and relocation of bus stop. A temporary fence will be erected around the perimeter of the construction zone (shown in red). All doors to and from the building will remain open. Crosswalks in Ferst Drive will remain open.
  • The bus stop in front of Weber will be relocated from the east side of the Transit Hub (turnaround) to the west side of the Transit Hub. Georgia Tech Transportation will display the necessary temporary signage.
  • The westbound dedicated bike lane will be closed in front of Weber. Bikes will need to safely merge and share the lane with vehicles until passing the construction fence.
  • Starting Friday, October 8 for approximately one week, one lane at a time of Ferst Drive will be closed in order to make the tap on the south side of the street. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with proper traffic control, one direction at a time, until both lanes can be permanently re-opened. Both lanes will remain open when work is not taking place.
