General Philip Breedlove is a Distinguished Professor at the Nunn School and a Center for European and Transatlantic Studies (CETS) Senior Fellow. He previously served as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe and the Commander of US European Command before retiring. On September 9, 2021, General Breedlove gave his powerful personal account of what happened on September 11, 2001. The former Georgia Tech student and ROTC cadet described how in 2001, he was the chief aide to the top official in the Air Force, Jim Roche. Breedlove described how as he was working in his office the morning of September 11th, members of his staff urged him to turn on the television, saying there had been an accident in New York City. You can watch his personal account here. You can also find accounts from other Georgia Tech faculty regarding the twentieth anniversary here.
