Introduction to Implicit Bias” Workshops for Non-tenure track faculty and staff

This workshop is geared towards research faculty, instructional faculty, academic professionals, and other staff members serving on search, hiring, and promotion committees. The goal of these workshops is to increase awareness of the impact of implicit bias and to facilitate equitable decision-making.
 
As a participant in the workshop, you will learn the following:

  • Awareness of implicit bias and how these unconscious, automatic mental processes impact behaviors such as evaluating candidates during search and promotion processes.
  • Empirical research on curriculum vitaes and letters of recommendation to illustrate the impact of implicit bias on decision making.
  • Best practices for mitigating implicit bias on search and promotion committees.
