Executives from global company Siemens were recently on campus for the Center for Knowledge Interchange (CKI) Day as guests of the Strategic Energy Institute. On hand for the event were Eric Spiegel, President and CEO of Siemens USA; Steve Conner, Chief Financial Officer, Siemens Energy; Georgia Tech President Bud Peterson; and Georgia Tech Strategic Energy Institute Executive Director, Tim Lieuwen. Students, staff, and faculty of Georgia Tech also participated in the day's activities which included a poster session that featured researched currently being conducted by several Ph.D. candidates.  

Siemens works closely in the area of research and development with numerous universities, research institutes, and industrial partners all over the world. Georgia Tech is one of the specifically selected U.S. universities that have partnerships with the company to recruit and mentor the next generation leadership and cutting-edge innovation in Research and Development (R&D). Focus areas include system design, gas turbines, advanced manufacturing and materials science. 

As a CKI partner, Georgia Tech has an ongoing recruiting relationship with Siemens that places students into one of fourteen entry-level development programs where they are mentored, assigned to a specific facility and, after 14 months, signed to a full-time position with the company. At the moment, there are 314 Georgia Tech alums in the U.S. program.
