Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) will host its annual in-person student hiring event August 18-20 in Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons. The Student Employee Onboarding event (formerly known as GradHiring) is open to students of all levels and designed to assist new student employees with the final steps in the hiring process.

For three days, GTHR staff and other volunteers will help first-time student employees complete requirements to officially begin working at Georgia Tech.

With the shift to OneUSG Connect last year and the implementation of electronic hiring packets, student hiring has become more simplified with one exception – validating identification which has to be done in-person.

Once a job offer is extended, students receive their new hire documents by email from Equifax. That email is triggered only after the hiring department has completed all the necessary steps in OneUSG Connect.

After completing their new hire packet online, students can come to Clough with their original identity documents to complete Section 2 of the I-9 form and have their Security Questionnaire notarized.

Participating in this event replaces the need for a new hire student appointment at GTHR. Students can register for the event in advance to guarantee a time slot.

However, if a student is unable to attend because they have not completed their online packet or they are not on campus, they can make an appointment to complete onboarding at GTHR.

To help new hires complete the online hiring packet and register for the Student Employee Onboarding, GTHR has created a Student Employee Onboarding Tutorial in Canvas. All students can access the tutorial and other helpful resources via the Student Employment website.

Important Note to Hiring Departments:

  • Please submit Direct Hire form transactions as early as possible to ensure that transactions are approved and students can receive access to their hiring packets before August 18 in time for them to attend Student Employee Onboarding.

  • Onboarding is only for new hires, or first-time student employees. Students who have worked at Tech in the past do not receive hiring document emails and do not require in-person onboarding.

  • New hire students should make appointments for the Student Employee Onboarding event, but ‘drop-ins’ will be seen if space allows.
