On Tuesday, August 10, at 1 p.m., the Georgia Tech Staff Council will host a virtual information session for employees interested in running for a three-year term as a regular member or applying for a one-year term as a committee member. During the session, Staff Council leadership will share details about the upcoming 2021 election process, timeline, and the organization’s goals and priorities.

Registration for the information session is open here.

“Our annual elections are key to furthering the Council’s successes,” said Quinaé Ford, 2021 Staff Council chair. “To serve on Staff Council means you strongly believe in the mission and goals of Georgia Tech and its leadership. The Council prides itself as a formal connection for fellow staff members to communicate with the Institute’s executive leadership. Yearly elections give us the opportunity to attract other staffers who will contribute to our engagement and advocacy for the staff population.”

The Council currently comprises 20 regular members who proportionally represent five classifications of employees, as specified by Georgia Tech’s Job Classification and Compensation System (JCCS).

For the 2021 election, the following regular member seats are available in the respective JCCS categories: Administrative and Professional (4 seats); Skilled Trades (1 seat); Scientific and Research (1 seat); Information Technology (2 seats); and Development (1 seat). Candidates (both nominated and self-nominated) must meet the following criteria:

  • The staff member must hold a job title in the JCCS category under which they are applying.
  • The staff member must have full-time or part-time (20 hours/week) status.
  • The staff member must have completed at least one year of service (12 consecutive months) at Georgia Tech with a staff title as of August 16, 2020.
  • The staff member may not hold a title(s) related to the following: academic faculty; executive or senior leadership; affiliate (e.g., Alumni Association, Foundation, etc.); research faculty; retiree; or student. (Please note that anyone holding any aforementioned title may not nominate a candidate to Staff Council or vote in the election process.)

Staff Council will accept nominations for new members and for committee membership August 16-27 at staffcouncil.gatech.edu/staff-council-elections. The election period will follow, September 13-24.
