Residents fear stadium lacks economic punch

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Atlantans share their opinions on the pending new Falcons stadium that would either be an expansion of the existing Georgia Dome or a whole new development nearby. Many are concerned with the ramifications that Turner Field had on the surrounding neighborhoods and don't want those repeated with this development.

In addition to sharing the results of a study on successful entertainment development districts, MCRP alumna Cassie Branum shared, "Most importantly, a clear decision-making body needs to be in place with the proper authority to have decisions carried out. This typically works well with a public-private partnership."
