One of those Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) social media stars profiled by PopSugar is Elena Shinohara, a Georgia Tech biochemistry major who is also on the U.S. national rhythmic gymnastics team. Shinohara often demonstrates her strength and flexibility in fun TikTok dance videos. ""As a member of the AAPI community, seeing how active the community is gives me hope for the future in 2021," Shinohara says. "Throughout the hate crimes and racist remarks that have happened over the past years, the AAPI community continues to speak out and raise their voices. Now, there are more and more people bringing light to the hate crimes and attacks."
