Do you want to learn and understand what a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) statement is? Do you have the desire to write your own DEI statement? Would you like more information on DEI and how having a DEI statement is beneficial? This workshop is for you!

During this 2-hour virtual workshop we will go over what a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) statement is, how it will help you in the future both academically and professionally and what a DEI statement can and should include. We will have breakout groups that will allow you to engage with your peers to brainstorm ways to create a DEI plan. 

 

The workshop will be led by: 

  • Dr. Ranu Jung, Wallace H. Coulter Eminent Scholar Chair in Biomedical Engineering, Professor and Chair of Biomedical Engineering at Florida International University

  • Dr. Joshua Hutcheson, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Florida International University

  • Dr. Lena Ting, John and Jan Portman Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory
