Summer Success – Your Students Time to Shine!
Summertime – relaxation, adventure, and for many a vacation period. We encourage self-care and reflection quite often in the Career Center, as these moments of peace can create new beings of motivation and innovation. During this time of rest, what can your student do to be professionally ready but not become overwhelmed? We have a few keys to a successful summer:

·  Participate in a workshop, specifically our Senior         Series https://career.gatech.edu/workshops

·  Who can I use as a reference?
Advise your students to take time this summer to meet with people virtually or in person to talk about what you have been doing during the school year. Coffee conversations are great to get to know what the day in the life of an engineer or CEO is like. Find a mentor that is willing to assist your student along this journey.

·  Update Your Digital Brand
Ask yourself what people would think about you if they hadn’t met you and were just forming a first impression of you from your Google results. Then determine what changes you’d like to make to align that first impression with your real-world personal brand. Pay close attention to your LinkedIn profile. It will likely show up toward the top of your page-one results. If your headshot is out-of-date, update it. If your “About” section is missing some of your latest wins, edit it. Make sure that your LinkedIn profile conveys your authentic credibility and likability, and make sure the answer to this question is yes: Would someone want to get to know me after reading my LinkedIn profile?

Once they have engaged in some of these activities, they can add them to their resume.

Think About:
Did you know the job search process starts very early in a student’s collegiate career! For example, if your student is graduating in December 2021 then they should begin job hunting this summer. Many companies are aware that students have academic deadlines and will keep that in mind when hiring students who want to begin work in January 2022.

Dates: Summer All-Majors Career Fair is July 22 and is open to all alumni and current students!

Please encourage your student to connect with our office for additional questions. We look forward to meeting them!
