Osama Waqar Bhatti and Madhavan Swaminathan received the Best Paper Award at the International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design (ISQED’21), which took place April 7-9 in a virtual format. 

The title of Bhatti’s and Swaminathan’s award-winning paper is “Design Space Extrapolation for Power Delivery Networks using a Transposed Convolutional Net.” In the era of high-speed electronic design, modeling using traditional software is time-taking and computationally expensive. 

Bhatti and Swaminathan are building machine learning (ML) models for design of electronic hardware. Using ML-based techniques, highly efficient circuits and integrated systems can be designed and fabricated. Their research also focuses on optimization and exploration of multiple design strategies for real world applications like autonomous driving, heterogeneous integration, and advanced electronic packaging.

Bhatti is a Ph.D. student in the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), and Swaminathan holds ECE’s John Pippin Chair Professorship in Microsystems Packaging and Electromagnetics and leads the 3D Systems Packaging Research Center.
