The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs is proud to announce that assistant professor Neha Kumar just received tenure. She joined the Nunn School in 2015 with a joint appointment in the School of Interactive Computing, and has been promoted to associate professor.

Kumar’s  research lies at the intersection of human-centered computing and global development. She uses a background in computer science, design, and ethnography to study emerging technology practices of marginalized users in resource-challenged communities, and to leverage this understanding towards the design and deployment of appropriate technology- and process-based solutions.

Kumar’s work contributes towards scholarship on mobile, social, and visual media practices and applies this research to design appropriate and contextually-relevant health and education interventions for marginalized communities, mainly in South Asia.

Neha Kumar came to Georgia Tech after completing a doctorate at the School of Information at the University of California, Berkley, where she specialized in human-centered computing and global development

Kudos to Neha on achieving this professional milestone!
