Seminar Title:
Success, Failures and Imposter Syndrome”

Abstract of Talk:  Who am I and why am I here?  Imposter syndrome used to hold me back – you’d think after successfully building 3 companies and exiting them that I know my success record and am not shy to show my strength.  How did being one of very few women in a school of engineering created an opportunity for me in the Board Room.  Lessons of work ethic, rising from failure and the entrepreneurial mindset to do anything.

Biographical Sketch of the Speaker: As a serial entrepreneur who has founded and exited 3 companies, Christy has spent 20 years focusing on human capital services and technologies as an executive leader, investor and founder. In 2018 following her exit as a senior executive in a global human capital technology company, she returned to her roots in entrepreneurship steering her interests towards venture capital investing in platform-based startups with a focus on FinTech, HealthTech and FemTech with a sharp eye towards underserved founders. As a General Partner, Christy lead a private venture capital firm headquartered in New York to its launch and formation in Atlanta combined with a roadmap across other cities in the United States.  Christy’s love of pairing venture capital with undeserved startups was a match.  The investment thesis she built combined a shared services plus capital approach which provided the foundation of resoruces and capital to scale startups to their next level.  With a focus on pre-seed and seed-to-series capital, she sought companies seeking their first round of funding with an average check size of $1M-3M and aimed towards their next liquidity event within 24-months.  In mid 2020, Christy’s passion expanded into supporting underserved founders more specifically and she stepped into the day-to-day leadership of Launchpad2X as President & CEO where her relentless passion to serve focused on economic mobility of women. Christy supports, mentors, guides and finances female founders and founders of color through her residency at Launchpad2X.  Christy is also engaged across multiple board roles, is an Entrepreneur in Residence for Emory University and speaks across the country on various topics including her own story of resilience, failures and successes.
