Unscripted and informal — unearthing leadership’s thinking behind the big ideas taking shape across the Institute and trends likely to define our future — this series is meant to capture candid conversations between President Ángel Cabrera and thought leaders across Georgia Tech and beyond.
The April 20 event features Professor Ilya Kaminsky in conversation with President Ángel Cabrera. Professor Ilya Kaminsky is the author of New York Times Notable Book, Deaf Republic.
Praise for Deaf Republic:
“I was stunned by Ilya Kaminsky’s Deaf Republic, lyric poems presented as a play in two acts, set in a country in crisis, inspired both by Odessa, where Kaminsky grew up, and America, where he now lives. It’s a book about censorship, political apathy, torture — “the nakedness / of the whole nation” — but also about tomato sandwiches, the birth of a daughter and the sudden, almost shocking joys of longtime married life.”
Limited in-person seating is available at the Scholars Event Network Theater on the first floor of Price Gilbert Memorial Library.
