A recent story in the New York Times focused on what concerns climate scientists about the North Atlantic arm of the Gulf Stream. Here the focus is on what many consider the North Pacific's version, the warm-water Kuroshio Extension, also known as the Black Stream or Japan Current. School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences researchers Youngji Joh and Emanuele Di Lorenzo published this study featuring new data on how the Extension interacts with the Pacific El Nino Southern Oscillation in a changing climate.
