There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. A recent story in the New York Times focused on what concerns climate scientists about the North Atlantic arm of the Gulf Stream. Here the focus is on what many consider the North Pacific's version, the warm-water Kuroshio Extension, also known as the Black Stream or Japan Current. School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences researchers Youngji Joh and Emanuele Di Lorenzo published this study featuring new data on how the Extension interacts with the Pacific El Nino Southern Oscillation in a changing climate.
