There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Slip Slidin' Away: Glaciers and Ice Sheets in a Warming Climate

In the next century sea level will be mainly affected by the health and volume of the Polar ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland. In this talk, I will introduce you to the glacier hydrologic system and to one glacier in particular---Thwaites Glacier, Antarctica---and its potential to significantly raise global sea level in the coming years. As a geophysicist, I will focus on the observations and measurements, but will also talk about some of numerical modeling issues.
