Congratulations to Dr. Dylan Brewer, Assistant Professor of Economics, who has won two awards for his outstanding teaching in fall 2020!
For his outstanding teaching in ECON 2106, Principles of Microeconomics, Brewer earned a place on the Student Recognition of Excellence in Teaching: Class of 1934 CIOS Honor Roll. Brewer was one of only three faculty teaching a large section course (40+) in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts to make the honor roll!
Brewer was also was recognized with a People’s Choice Selection (Runner-up) of the 2021 SLS Faculty Sustainable Communities Teaching Awards. To address difficulties associated with students in different time zones, Zoom fatigue, and the potential for lack of engagement by students, Brewer pre-recorded lecture videos for the core material broken into 10-minute segments. He also held once-per-week synchronous sessions where he brought the course material to life, incorporating platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and Twitch to keep energy high.
Congratulations, Dylan!
