Can COVID-19 variants impact testing?

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Georgia Tech scientists are working with the CDC to see if Covid-19 tests need to be modified as more virus mutations pop up around the world. Greg Gibson, professor in the School of Biological Sciences who helped set up Georgia Tech's initial testing program, tells 11 Alive News that if COVID-19 vaccines and tests have to be tweaked, it will be relatively easy to do so.
