Horizons Atlanta at Georgia Tech provides high-quality, tuition-free summer enrichment programs, serving over 150 young scholars in 2020. This VISTA position serves at Georgia Tech’s K-12 educational research and outreach center. Throughout their service year, the VISTA will have access to the world-class research, staff, and faculty at Georgia Tech, providing opportunities for professional development and networking with leaders in the fields of education and education reform. This is an opportunity for motivated, committed individuals who are passionate about making a difference and receiving beyond entry-level responsibilities. Because of this the candidate should have some background of volunteer service or education as well as the desire to take on responsibilities that will challenge themselves and make an impact on the Horizons Atlanta at Georgia Tech community. This is an AmeriCorps VISTA position and the individual will work directly with the Program Director of the Horizons program.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member will work with the Program Director and staff during the school year to: -Promote the program in the community through traditional & social media efforts. -Implement creative strategies for fiscal sustainability -Coordinate volunteer opportunities for the Georgia Tech community to engage with the Horizons Program. -Research and seek opportunities for establishing collaborative relationships with complimentary service providers, associations, or organizations that align with Horizons Atlanta at Georgia Tech work. -Develop systems for effective advisory board management. During the summer the VISTA will: -Create additional community awareness & marketing for the program. -Contribute to the development and implementation of an orientation, training & support program for youth volunteers. -Conduct outreach, coordination, and tracking of special events. -Collect, compile, and present assessment data and feedback from program constituents. Program Benefits : Health Coverage* ,  Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend ,  Living Allowance ,  Childcare assistance if eligible ,  Relocation Allowance ,  Training ,  Education award upon successful completion of service .
