On Saturday, March 5, Paul Grether of MARTA will guide Georgia Tech students along the future route of the Atlanta Streetcar, a modern, ADA compliant, electrically-powered transit system.

Four months ago Atlanta received $47 million from the United States Department of Transportation to begin the project. Construction for this first phase is set to begin July 2011, and will run for 2.62 miles in the downtown, business, tourism and convention corridor connecting Peachtree Street with Sweet Auburn Avenue. As manager of regional service coordination for MARTA, Grether will be leading the project.
Meet the group at Techwood and Bobby Dodd Way at 9:30 a.m., or at the intersection of Peachtree and Ellis St. at 10:00 a.m. (Peachtree Center MARTA Station).
