The Georgia Tech Program in Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (STIP) welcomes Myriam Quispe-Agnoli, a community and economic development economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, to speak on “Immigration and Jobs in Your Community: What Is the Real Impact of Undocumented Workers.”
The Innovations in Economic Development Forum brings together faculty, other researchers, students, economic developers, and policymakers to discuss leading-edge ideas and practices in economic development and innovation policy. The theme for the spring: "It's All About the Jobs: Creating Quality Jobs in a Time of Economic Recovery."

Abstract:
Employing undocumented workers has long been a hot-button issue, but what is the real impact of these workers on wages and the employment decisions of local businesses? Myriam Quispe-Agnoli, Community and Economic Development Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will discuss her research on (1) whether firms employing undocumented workers have a competitive advantage, (2) wage differentials between documented and undocumented workers, and (3) whether undocumented workers are displacing documented workers.
