Help Create a Site-specific Sculpture with World-renowned Artist Patrick Dougherty
Patrick Dougherty creates unique, large-scale art installations using locally-sourced natural materials. As part of Georgia Tech’s commitment to sustainability, the Institute has established the Eco-Commons, 80-acres of greenspace that will preserve the natural topography and link smart infrastructure across campus. The most recent section to open, which comprises 8 acres, is the home for his sculptures. Find out what Patrick has envisioned for Tech’s campus and help him create it!
Georgia Tech Arts is seeking volunteers to assist Dougherty and his team in January 2021. The volunteer slots for installation on campus are now all full; however, Patrick is still looking for folks to join him at Serenbe in Chattahoochee Hills, GA, to assist with harvesting the saplings that will be used in the creation of the sculpture. Gathering will take place January 4-6, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. There are 10 volunteer spots per 4-hour shift. Learn more and register below! Safety protocols will be followed.
Take advantage of this opportunity to spend time outdoors supporting public art with an internationally acclaimed artist!
