What Current and Future Residents Need to Know About Housing This Winter
Winter Break is a little longer this year - it's a great time for you and your student to prepare for spring and talk about future housing plans.

Is Your Student Home for the Break?
While your student is back at home, there are several things your family can do to prepare your student for a safe and successful return to campus. Limit the number of people in your circle, spend time outdoors when possible, and mask up around others to limit your student's exposure before returning to campus. Once your student returns, check in with them to make sure they got tested on campus after arriving (bonus points if you can make sure they get tested every week in spring).

If Your Student is Staying on Campus for the Break:
We know many students need to stay with us for this long break, and we want you to know they'll be well cared for! Our winter residents should let their RA know their plans to stay, and visit our Winter Break page where they'll find details on dining and other services for the break, emergency contacts, Covid-19 safety guidelines, and other useful information.

Graduating or Moving Out?
If your student will be graduating or moving out of their residence hall for good, there are a few things they should know to check out successfully. They should look for an email from their Hall Director with specifics about their Express Checkout process and visit the move-out website to find cleaning checklists, Covid-19 safety guidelines for moving off campus, and more. Please remind your student that they need to check out within 24 hours of their last final, or by noon on Sunday, December 13, 2020, for our graduating residents.

Moving In This Spring?

Move-in for new spring residents is on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Find the information you need about key pick-up, unloading, and more, visit the Move-In Site. We look forward to welcoming your student to the community!

Looking Forward to Fall 2021

During the break, talk with your student about their housing plans for the 2021-2022 Academic Year. The application to live on campus for 2021-2022 will be open in February, but you can lookout for more information about housing options for fall, the application timeline, information sessions, and more in January.

As always, our team is available to answer questions and provide assistance - reach out to us at information@housing.gatech.edu. Warmest wishes for a joyful, restful, and safe break - from our family to yours!
