‘We are out of time:’ Destructive wildfires in Colorado will grow worse as season lengthens, scientists warn

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Wildfire season in Colorado would normally be nearing its end by now. Instead, dry conditions fueled what’s now become the state’s largest wildfire in history. “We are out of time, and I shudder to think what other ‘fast-forward’ climate destruction we’re facing in the next years,” said climate scientist Kim Cobb of Georgia Tech.
