Georgia Tech CEISMC K.I.D.S. (Kids Interested in Discovering STEAM) Club online offerings are designed for kids in the 4th and  5th grade who are interested in discovering and learning more about science, technology, engineering, arts, and math!
 
This year we are excited to provide online sessions as we continue to expand our program! Additionally, you may register your student for up to two sessions each Workshop.

 

Wind-Powered Racers

Using the power of the wind learn how to construct your very own racers! We’ll learn about aerodynamics and engineering in this workshop as we race to the finish line in style. You can continue the fun long after the workshop is over as you change your design over and over again. *participation in this program requires adult supervision to help with some of the cutting and assembly.

Supplies and Requirements:

  • Air Racer Kit: Purchase Here
  • Any type of tape
  • 2 AA Batteries
  • Scissors
  • Safety goggles
  • woodcraft cutters, a small saw, or pruning shears
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • recycled materials (cardboard, cereal boxes, plastic, etc)

Laptop or computer, (Windows, Mac, or Chromebook), internet access, and headphones.

The Science behind Sound Waves

Turn up the music to feel the vibrations! Learn about displacement, equilibrium, and acoustical engineering while building your very own person that dances on top of a cup. Watch your wire person move as you discover the science behind sound waves.

Supplies and Requirements:

  • Ballpoint pen
  • Craft wire (22 gauge)
  • 1-inch diameter Styrofoam ball or bead
  • Markers
  • Paper cups
  • Pipe cleaners
  •  Scissors
  • Stapler with staples
  • 1-inch straw pieces

Laptop or Computer, (Windows, Mac, or Chromebook), internet access, and headphones.

Hour of Code

Do you love to play computer games? Ever wanted to make your own? Learn the fundamentals of coding as we create the ultimate computer game using Scratch 3.0. Through this process, the participants will solve complex problems, collaborate with others, and have fun sharing their amazing creations with the world. This Workshop is for Advanced level participants. Must have used Scratch before.
