Seminar Title: LIFE IS ANYTHING BUT Y=MX+B

Abstract of Talk:  Braxton will discuss his route to becoming a patent attorney and how that led him to his passions. He will also discuss his trials and how overcoming those trials led him to become an industry leader within his profession. Additionally, Braxton will discuss how leveraging your EE degree as a patent professional can lead to other opportunities.

Biographical Sketch of the Speaker: Braxton is the Founder and CEO of the Patent Institute of Training (PIT) where he develops practical Intellectual Property (IP) training and experiences for corporations, law firm associates, patent agents, IP attorneys, paralegals, engineers, and law students. Braxton is also the Founder of the National Council on Patent Practicum (NCPP), which specializes in certifying patent professionals according to industry standards.

Braxton earned undergraduate degrees in physics and electrical engineering from Morehouse College and the Georgia Institute of Technology, respectively, and earned his J.D. from Georgia State University’s College of Law.After obtaining his J.D., he joined the AT&T Intellectual Property Patent Development and Innovation Team where he evaluated inventive ideas, patent portfolios, and patent monetization opportunities in light of AT&T business strategies.

Braxton is currently Director of the National Society of Black Engineers Intellectual Property Special Interest Group, an Associate at Amin, Turocy, & Watson LLP, and CEO of Metric Mate, a company that specializes in developing fitness technology to track strength training.
