This event focuses on helping international students find work opportunities with companies willing to sponsor them. Although the event is not exclusively for international students, we want to allow all students to familiarize themselves with the struggles non-citizens face as well as nurture a diverse community of students in the workforce.

GT-SHPE will host our third annual International Career Forum. It will not be limited to members of GT-SHPE – it will also invite and encourage members of the National Society of Black Engineers, African American Student Union, India Club at Georgia Tech, Korean Undergraduate Student Association, among other organizations that have a considerable pool of international students.

The main objective of this event is to provide attendees with the necessary knowledge and preparation to succeed as international students in their professional development. This includes, but it is not limited to, legal aspects of working as a nonresident alien, resources on campus for career development, forums with previously successful students for finding job opportunities inside and outside of the US, and workshops with companies explaining the value of diversity for this increasingly interconnected society. Through such workshops and forums, the participants will gain important insight into the recruiting process and receive proper interview preparation.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 19th between 1:00 and 5:00 PM through the virtual platform Hopin.to. The platform offers different breakout rooms, where different workshops and forums will be held, and allows for multiple presenters to interact with the attendees. Furthermore, the platform allows for one-on-one conversations between the attendants and the presenters to allow the guests to network.
