Seminar Title: Engineers in Construction Management

Abstract of Talk:
Inglett & Stubbs was formed in 1954 by Bill Stubbs (an electrician) and Ray Inglett (Electrical Engineer from Georgia Tech). It has grown from building small commercial facilities to the some of the most prestigious projects in the Southeast. Today, Inglett & Stubbs employs over 1,000 electricians and is involved in projects ranging from $10,000 to $100 million. Inglett & Stubbs’ signature markets include healthcare, data centers, institutional/educational projects, stadiums, laboratories, industrial/power generation, and International U.S. Government facilities. As construction projects continue to push the constraints of conventional design, productivity, and schedule, the value proposition of electrical contractors has evolved. Inglett & Stubbs has expanded their services to include preconstruction, budgeting, design/build, construction services, low voltage, telecommunications, and maintenance.

Construction projects are led by the Project Manager. They are not only responsible for the logistical and financial success of the project, but also serve as the liaison between the owner, the design team (architects and engineers), and the construction team. They must ensure that the project be successful financially, meets all codes and specifications, be delivered on time, and satisfies the owner’s intent. Balancing these responsibilities is a fine balance that all good Project Managers strive for.

Biographical Sketch of the Speaker:
Gaël Pirlot graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2005 and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2006. He began his career with Inglett & Stubbs immediately after graduating. He has managed the electrical construction of such projects as the international terminal at the Hartsfield Jackson airport, various overseas projects for the US Army, and the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. He is currently the Vice President of Inglett & Stubbs’ mission critical group which is responsible for the construction of some of the most highly complex facilities for customers ranging from the CDC to Fortune 100 companies.
