Y Combinator is one of the top accelerators for startups that has produced companies such as Airbnb, Dropbox, and Coinbase to name a few. Michael Seibel is the CEO and Partner of Y Combinator, but he co-founded Twitch and Socialcam. They will be visiting Georgia Tech virtually to discuss diversity, funding and how to get your startup into their top tier accelerator.

This event will focus on Michael’s experience being a diverse founder in the startup space and how he is making an impact. You will learn about different funding routes for your potential startup and understand which is best for your startup. Michael will also share what Y Combinator values and how to make a successful application for the Y Combinator accelerator.

Speaker Bio: Michael Seibel is the CEO and a Partner at Y Combinator. Michael Seibel was the co-founder and CEO of Justin.tv and Socialcam. Socialcam sold to Autodesk in 2012 and under the leadership of Emmett Shear, Justin.tv became Twitch.tv and sold to Amazon in 2014. Before getting into startups, he spent a year as the finance director for a US Senate campaign and in 2005, Michael graduated from Yale University with a BA in political science.

About YC: Y Combinator is a startup fund based in Mountain View, CA. Twice a year YC invests a small amount of money in a large number of startups. The startups move to Silicon Valley for 3 months, and the YC partners work closely with each company to get them into the best possible shape and refine their pitch to investors. Each batch culminates in Demo Day, when the startups present their companies to a carefully selected audience of investors. Y Combinator has invested in over 2,500 companies including Stripe, Airbnb, Instacart, Dropbox, Reddit, Coinbase and Ginkgo Bioworks. The combined valuation of YC companies is over $150B.
