Milton Mueller, Professor in the School of Public Policy, was quoted in the article "TikTok to launch court action over Donald Trump's crackdown," published Aug. 22, 2020 in The Guardian.
Mueller, whose research and scholarship deals with issues of internet governance, commented on the Trump administration's August 6 executive order that would prohibit Americans from using TikTok, a popular microvideo-sharing app. The move has raised speculation of an American company buying the app and taking over its operations. Mueller spoke to the geopolitical implications of the move.

The measures move away from the long-promoted American ideal of a global, open internet and could invite other countries to follow suit, analysts told AFP previously.
“It’s really an attempt to fragment the internet and the global information society along US and Chinese lines, and shut China out of the information economy,” Milton Mueller, a Georgia Tech professor and founder of the Internet Governance Project said previously.
