The Mini 500 is an annual tricycle race around Peters Parking Deck that occurs on the Friday afternoon before the homecoming football game. It is one of Georgia Tech’s most unique traditions put on by Ramblin’ Reck Club since 1969. Teams are comprised of seven members: 4 to take turns as the driver and three on the pit crew. Each team is required to rotate the front tire of their tricycle three times throughout the course of the race. All teams try to complete 8 laps without destroying their tricycle. The 2020 Mini 500 will be on Friday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Stamps Recreation Fields. More information can be found at https://youtu.be/VF45Fb0uPU4.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the Mini 500 will be hosted in the form of a time trial around the Stamps Recreation Fields as we seek to limit the number of spectators and competitors at the event at any given time. Proper safety precautions will be implemented in order to reduce the spread of germs and encourage social distancing.
