The inaugural master's class of the School of Modern Languages had to complete their degrees during a global pandemic, improvising new ways to to connect with the cultures they research -- and with each other -- virtually. As Fall semester brings the second-ever cohort of master's students to the School, grad students and faculty teamed up to welcome new students into the community.
"We want them to know that no matter what is happening in the world, we are here for them," said Neta Kanny, who produced and edited the video welcome. "Graduate school is an incredible experience, and Modern Languages is like a home-away-from-home. I know that even in a hybrid format, students will have a great experience as part of this community, and I'm so excited for them to start their journey," she said.
"It's important for us that students feel connected and know they can reach out to us," said Jenny Strakovsky, Assistant Director of Graduate Studies and Career Education. "The study of language is about bringing people together, and we're very excited to welcome new students into the School."
