TOPIC : Aware Home Hacks: Tech overview
SPEAKERS(s) : Nachiketas Ramanujam
You are invited to join us for the Aware Home Research Initiative (AHRI) seminar this week to be held at the Aware Home (Broadband Institute Residential Lab) at the corner of 10th and Center.
The Aware Home seminar this week will be an introduction to several technologies that have been identified as interesting for students to experiment with in the Aware Home. These include: Kinect, GoogleTV, RFID, Interface Carpet (RFID tags embedded), Global Sensor Network (middleware for sensing), Arduino/Zigbee, Salud! (health self-management web API), PR-2 robot related technologies (ROS, Human Robot Interaction, Healthcare + robotics). Students attending will be asked to prioritize those they would consider using in a class or a weekend project. Those determined to be of most interest will be first up at the AHRI lunches with demonstrations of projects using these technologies, brainstorming on how they could be used, tutorials on how to get started, tips, challenges, and similar.
The
Aware Home Seminar is a weekly talk by other students, faculty or industry
loosely around the core areas of: health and wellness, future entertainment and
communications, and sustainability in or related to the home. This semester, we
will have a series of talks on technologies available to work with in the
home. The talks are open to all students and faculty. Have a topic to
share? Please contact brian.jones@imtc.gatech.edu
. The Aware Home Seminar course is listed under CS 8001 AHS Spring and Fall
