Brazil and Mexico: Failing on COVID

Global Security & International Relations + COVID-19 Series

Thursday, July 23, 2020

12:00 PM - 12:45 PM ET

Let's have an honest take on how two populist countries are dealing with the pandemic.

Michael Reid is a senior editor at The Economist. Based in Madrid, he writes its Bello column on Latin America, is a writer-at-large on the region and is its Spain correspondent. He was previously the magazine’s correspondent in Brazil (1996-9) and speaks Spanish and Portuguese. Michael is a frequent speaker to business, academic and public-policy audiences and, given his expertise in the region, he has testified before the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Senate and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the UK House of Commons.

His books include “Forgotten Continent: A History of the New Latin America” (Second edition, 2017) and “Brazil: The Troubled Rise of a Global Power” (2014), both must-reads to anyone who wants to have a enlivening view of Latin America.

FREE OF CHARGE AND OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED, CONTRIBUTION APPRECIATED.
