No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Visit the Welcome Home webpage to learn about the Week of Welcome 2020.
Week of Welcome is an opportunity for first-year students to get to know their new home – campus-life and city-life. Students will get to move in a week earlier than other students to start making Georgia Tech their home and create connections that will last throughout their time at Tech.
Throughout the Week of Welcome, students will be able to participate in virtual workshops from campus resource offices that cover topics like co-curricular opportunities, ways to get involved on campus, life skills, and how to take care of needs like mental and physical health while at Georgia Tech.
During this week you can also explore one of the most critical resources: food! Campus dining halls open on the first day of move-in.
Take this first week to explore and connect to a campus and a community you’ll soon call home. Get a special introduction to the traditions of Georgia Tech during the small group Traditions Tour on Tuesday.
The week ends with Georgia Tech’s Convocation, a First-Year’s momentous official entry into the campus community before classes start.
While this isn’t the first week of college most imagined, we’re doing our best to safely provide you with rich opportunities to find connection and feel welcome at Georgia Tech. With the health of our Yellow Jackets in mind, most elements of the Week of Welcome will be virtual or have virtual alternatives, self-guided, or small group activities done with hall groups to minimize contact. Additionally, our custodial teams have outlined a comprehensive plan to keep common surfaces clean throughout the week of welcome and beyond. All residents will receive a wellness kit in their rooms with a mask, hand sanitizer, thermometer and more to support their health. Residents will also have access to a mobile app to help space out move-in and dining opportunities with specific time slots.
Move-in: August 8th & 9th
First-year move-in is August 8 and 9, and we can’t wait to welcome you to Georgia Tech! Details on move-in are being carefully worked out so we can provide a safe and smooth experience for all of our new Yellow Jackets.
