Georgia Tech is a global institution and embraces a culture of global engagement that allows us to tap the contributions of the brightest scholars from the United States and abroad. We value our international students who comprise more than 25% of the overall student population and come from 122 countries worldwide. We welcome your student to Georgia Tech as they begin their exciting journey in the U.S. in pursuit of a world-class degree.
While your student is studying at Georgia Institute of Technology, the Office of International Education’s (OIE) ISSS advisors serve as a resource related to immigration, visas, academic, and personal adjustment matters. We advocate for the large and diverse population of international students and scholars at Georgia Tech and partner with our colleagues across campus to create an environment where international students and scholars are able to make a well-integrated transition to Georgia Tech through diverse cultural, educational, and leadership opportunities.
OIE will share information throughout the summer with your student including guidance about the student visa application process, preparing for arrival to Atlanta, and the OIE online check-in process. Students are encouraged to begin the OIE check-in process using iStart before leaving home. You can find more information about important preparations at the OIE website: https://oie.gatech.edu/ISSS_Pre-Arrival
The International Student Welcome Series will begin the week before classes and continue throughout the first semester. Students attending these events will have the opportunity to meet other new international students, the ISSS staff, and hear from seasoned international students who will offer their perspective for new student success. The International Student Welcome Series includes a number of informational sessions, which supplement FASET Orientation and address a variety of topics that are essential and of interest to international students.
We look forward welcoming your student to Georgia Tech!
