There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. No new content can be created during this time, but all material in the system as of the beginning of the freeze will be migrated to the new platform, including users and groups. Functionally the new site is identical to the old one. webteam@gatech.edu

"Soft Wearable Bioelectronics for Smart and Connected First Responders"
Dr. W. Hong Yeo, Assistant Professor, George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering and Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology
Moderator: Cynthia Curry, Metro Atlanta Chamber
Dr. Yeo has established a strong research program in the field of smart healthcare and nanoengineered human-machine electronics. The goal of Dr. Yeo’s research is to understand fundamentals of soft materials, deformable mechanics, biological interface forces, machine learning, and nanomanufacturing for development of soft wearable and implantable biosensors and bioelectronics. In this talk, he will discuss about the fundamentals of materials, mechanics, and electronics to develop soft wearable systems and the examples of applications in smart healthcare, smart human-machine interfaces, and smart therapeutics. He will also talk about his vision to apply this wearable technology for smart and connected first responders.
Dr. Yeo is an Assistant Professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering and Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on the areas of nanoengineering, advanced soft materials, machine learning, and bio-electromechanical systems, with an emphasis on soft wearable biosensors and bioelectronics. Dr. Yeo received his PhD in mechanical engineering and genome sciences at the University of Washington, Seattle in 2011. From 2011-2013, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Beckman Institute and Frederick Seitz Materials Research Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
