Hurricane Dorian Ravaged Bahamas’ Reefs, Researchers Find

There is now a CONTENT FREEZE for Mercury while we switch to a new platform. It began on Friday, March 10 at 6pm and will end on Wednesday, March 15 at noon. When Hurricane Dorian slammed into the Bahamas in September, it not only leveled entire communities and killed dozens of people, it also destroyed about 30 percent of the coral reefs around the islands. “This study speaks strongly to the importance of long-term monitoring,” said Kim Cobb.
